Training Days: Caring for your Books and Bound Collections

Two training days, run by Monika Stokowiec, were held on the 2nd and 3rd November in Penzance and Liskeard for staff and volunteers from Cornwall's museums and archives. These sessions were developed out of discussions with Jo Warburton, Cornwall's Museums Development Manager and Tamsin Mallet from the Cornish Archive Network.  Both days were fully booked so we hope to run an additional day in January at Geevor Tin Mine Museum. we are most grateful to the Preservation Advisory Centre who sent us for free two boxes of Preservation leaflets for participants http://www.bl.uk/blpac/

Teacher Monika!

The programme for the day

The Penzance group measuring books for boxes and folders

This can get fiddly when you are measuring the depth of small books

The Liskeard group learning about book supports

Wrapping and tying books

Thank you everyone for your attendance!

    Hi,

I was just wondering whether you ever ran similar sessions for people who are interested in book conservation, but are not currently employed within the sector?

    Thanks.
