Ella, Heather, Leah and Sam, from Cape Cornwall School, have just spent the day with us in the conservation studio.  We showed them some of the books that we are working on and Kaori taught them how to repair missing areas in a map using Japanese paper that is shaped with a needle or water brush and is pasted onto the map.

Everyone had a go at Japanese paper repairs

Then Monika taught everyone how to make folders to protect the prints they had made downstairs at the Exchange Gallery

Then Monika showed everyone how to make a notebook by folding paper and sewing through the centre of the fold and attaching a decorative paper cover.

These are the books that were made - They are fantastic!
